I am thrilled to be the counselor at Academy High School!
We live in challenging and exciting times in our community and our country. Most high school graduates will experience a career change 4-5 times before they reach retirement age, due to economic, technological or personal reasons. It is estimated that a full 30% of today’s high school graduates will in 20 years be working in a job that does not exist today because the technology that will create and drive that job has yet to be developed or invented.
I view it as my responsibility to help each individual student identify their interests, develop their skills and talents and channel those attributes into a challenging and rewarding career pathway that will be competitive in a truly global market.
My philosophy of education is that every child deserves an opportunity to better themselves and their situation through learning. Schools are responsible to offer the opportunity, curriculum, programs and support that are needed for success. Parents must instill in their children importance of education, the desire to attain it and daily encouragement, support and direction. The child is entrusted to supply their hopes, dreams and desires; but most importantly their commitment and effort to their own education.
I am looking forward to striving with you to help each student become happy, healthy, successful, contributing, life time learners as citizens of the great state of Texas and these United States of America.
